Super unique, very old vintage rug kept in immaculate condition (likely little used). Fabulous for a textile collector. The material is like an early sisal or hemp — very rustic, with a nice hand to the, like, hand loomed hand woven piece. Weave allows it to be reversible. One side is dominated by green, the other side dominated by beige.
Understated floral pattern almost comes off as a geometric design. Gorgeous greens, blacks, beiges, and a touch of red.
Could also be used as a large table topper or as a vibrant and unusual textile showpiece for the back of a large couch or foot of a seldom used bed. Has a drape that’s lighter weight which is why it could be used in these other applications.
I wish I could source the origin of this weave and design…alas!
Condition: Superior. Colors more vibrant than computer photos show.
Size. Rug is 3′ wide and 6′ 4″ long. Would benefit from a rug pad.
SHOP MISSION: For art and textiles I use eco-friendly resources including non-txic materials, and upcycled textiles turned into new products. My philosophy is #buyantiquesfirst #buyvintagefirst #buyusedfirst #buyupcycledfirst and sell them as they are, or turn them into something new.
I believe it’s our duty as contemporary earth dwellers to not make new demands on the industrial economy and instead to utilize already embedded energy is the quadrillions of products already made and still usable in life today either as they are, or transformed into something fresh.
With my products, together you and I help reduce earth impacts since I source vintage items and resources either as they are, or to upcycle into new products, giving them a new life. This reduces demand on current resources, preserves history, and keeps valuable items out of the landfill, all of which asks just a little bit less out of our ever-giving Mother Earth. And since Etsy buys carbon offsets for all shipping, this approach is a win-win for the sustainability-minded shopper.
