A sunny and playful 1980s Jay Yang Design Ltd. floral chintz titled “Woodco.” This piece takes the traditional sumptuous floral and spreads it out a bit, creating more “white space,” which in this case is yellow. The result is a print that is airy yet vibrant with color and design movement. Flowers and leaves are multi-colored, and strewn about is a picotage effect that provide a kind of effervescence.
A light to medium weight glazed chintz cotton that’s suitable to upholstery — pillows, shams, table draping, café curtains, Roman shades, chair seats/backs etc. Large enough to be the back of or seat of a settee, top of an oversized ottoman/fabric coffee table, as a giant throw cushion, a fabric-covered twin bed headboard, or some other great design idea.
COLORS: Forgive the inconsistency in my pics — it was hard to capture the background illuminating yellow though most of the other colors are accurate. Pic #1 is the most accurate depiction of the yellow background. The yellow is a light lemony yellow. The other colors are cranberry, dusty rose, millennial pink, mint, sage, cantelope, mango, periwinkle, China blue, white, and black.
SIZE: 53.75″ wide + .5″ selvedge on each side x 63″ long (or 1.75 yards”).
CONDITION: Overall excellent — one edge is cut a bit unevenly but I measured from the smaller side so any unevenness is extra fabric.
MAKER: Here’s a great New York Times article from 1979 about how Yang took the fabric design world by storm: https://www.nytimes.com/1979/02/15/archives/young-innovator-in-fabric-world-an-innovator-in-the-fabric-world.html
SUSTAINABILITY: ALL my packaging except tape is 100% re-used. Your invoice is available digitally in your account. I source vintage items and resources either as they are, or to upcycle into new products, giving them a new life. This reduces demand on current resources, preserves history, and keeps valuable items out of the landfill, all of which asks just a little bit less out of our ever-giving Mother Earth. Etsy buys carbon offsets for all shipping, which is a win-win for the sustainability-minded shopper.
