A set of four new old stock linen napkins with an Austrian eagle motif handprinted in vivid red and dark chocolate brown. Napkins in a loose linen basket weave (see pic #6) with a slight nubbly texture to the touch. Perfect gift for Austrian nationals and Austrian lovers, or those missing their homeland.
Though it’s not the eagle of the Austrian flag, nor the eagle coat of arms of any of the larger provinces, this eagle still is in fitting with typical Austrian symbology of the eagle and may pertain to a specific smaller hamlet. This one has nothing in his talons, his shield is made up of scales of under feathers, a vining laurel rises up on each side of his head on which he wears a crown. Surround the eagle is a stylized folk motif in brown of flowers and scrolls. Possibly these were a souvenir from Austria in the mid century.
Each napkin is 14″ x 13″ with a .5″ fringe all around.
CONDITION: Superior — new old stock with labels still attached.
