Father’s Day is just a little over a month away so now’s the time to get crackin’ to make dad something cool for his special day.
What would make an awesome gift using vintage fabrics?
- Pillows of course!
- Or maybe get an old chair re-covered for him.
- Maybe make something for his man cave?
- A custom Christmas stocking is always fun.
- Or a handy tote for his hobby gear.
Whatever you make for dad, just know that in this malleable age where identity is whatever you make of it, that Lady Virginia would never stereotype your pops as having predictable manly tastes in fabric. That’s why we’ll just presume that he absolutely loves florals, chintzes, Chinoiseries, and any fabric with a bird on it.
If that’s the case well, we have that in profusion and if that’s your dad’s thang, well he’s just gonna love it!
BUT…if there’s some chance that your particular daddy-o won’t be bowled over by frills and swirls and flowers, flowers, flowers, then may we humbly suggest a few alternatives that might be up more his alley?

Fabric for Projects with Dad in Mind
We’ve been stocking Lady Virginia Vintage with some excellent vintage fabrics that would make cool, unique, and “wow” projects for your dad. Besides the abundance of florals mentioned above, we’ve sourced fabrics with themes on fishing, sailing/boating, history, the military, patriotism, animals, sports, stripes, abstracts, checks, and more.
In addition to that we have a 1970s eagle rug, some kitschy 1970s sports curtains, and more.
Below is a gallery of just a few of our fun finds — and we’ll be adding a few more in the coming days. But don’t rely on just this gallery. Pop over to our Etsy Shop (our own e-commerce website is coming soon) and source something to make a project that’s just perfect for the guy who gave you life itself — and then probably taught you to tie your shoes, ride a bike, cook a steak on a grill, and perhaps how to arrange flowers (if that’s his thing!)
Here’s a gallery with a little peek at some recent additions to the Etsy shop as well as some of my favorites right now.
If you see one you love, snap it up before it’s gone. Most of our selection is always out of print, and over 95% of our finds are one-of-a-kind on the market right now. When they’re gone, they’re gone!
Happy shopping and Happy Father’s Day — I hope your celebration is as unique as your dad, and as unique as your family!
