We were staying in the Roanoke Hotel and Conference Center (see my review) and so decided to have evening drinks in the Pine Room Pub after one of the local events we attended.
I had a Grand Marnier and my hubby had a beer.
Don’t lose what’s unique
We got friendly, quick service but were still somewhat disappointed that for such a lovely, old school room it would have been nice to let the old school speak, live, breathe. Instead, as is typical in most places today, there’s now a huge screen TV behind the bar, and others in the room.
What’s wrong America? Seriously, can’t we be free from the utter dregs of what’s broadcast on the boob tube along with the need to be continually stimulated by national level news, sports, and junk entertainment?
That’s how I prefer to go out and to travel. On one hand I may be an anomaly. On another, there’s other people like me for sure.
I’d like to say “nice atmosphere” because the longtime pine paneling and cozy setting were still so cool, but it was just wiped out of being anything unique or distinct by the ridiculousness of the TVs.
