I hope that everyone out there in #ilovevintagefabric land has been doing well in this extraordinary pandemic. My best advice is to wear those masks, practice physical distancing, stay home whenever possible, but also get fresh air and sunshine every day! I know this is hard on many folks, both those who are working at home and those who aren't. I've worked from home for 25 years so for me … [Read more...] about Christmas in July Sale and What’s Going on at Chez Lady Virginia…

Tea party for a princess
The other day I was looking at a local magazine's take on birthday parties for kids. WOW! Talk about over the top. Apparently gone are the days of cake, ice cream and pin the tail on the donkey. Now it's all about the destination party—a gym, theater, theme park, rock wall climbing, gourmet fondue, paint ball course, build-a-bear, ceramics glazing or whatever. This is the kind of stuff marketing for the web will make you say. And it's true, … [Read more...] about In praise of the prosaic

So, more calories in + fewer calories out = fat storage. Is it any wonder that we have a crisis of obesity in the Western world, and in the US in particular? But unless you plan to start … [Read more...] about Less is definitely more
Year round Christmas tree
About ten years ago, when I was a very poor single mom, I had no money to buy a Christmas tree one year. At the time it felt like a bummer. My solution was to tape two pieces of roll out white paper together and paint a tree on it. I added painted lights, ornaments and a star, and hung it on the wall. Now when I look back at photos, the ones of that year, and our homemade tree, are some of my … [Read more...] about Year round Christmas tree
